One of the best things you can do for your health is to stay physically fit. The benefits are numerous and they include; strengthening of bones and muscles, reducing the risk of some cancers (colon and breast), reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, controlling your weight, improving your mental health and mood, improving your ability to carry out daily activities and increasing your chances of living longer.
It therefore goes without say that it is wise to incorporate physical fitness into your lifestyle. If you are a beginner you should start slowly and moderately increase your level of activity. This is because the risk for cardiac events (such as heart attack) becomes high when you suddenly become more active than usual.
If you have any long-term health conditions, it is prudent to consult your doctor or physician for a proper fitness program, and to also know and stay within your limits.
If you had been exercising before and would like to begin again, you can begin with 10 minutes a day and add more minutes every week until you can stay active longer so as to reduce the risk of injury.
